Privacy Policy

Run or Rumble ("we," "us") is a browser-based randomizer that settles things with a Race, a Rumble, or a Coin Flip. We're built to collect as little as possible. This policy explains what we do and don't collect.

What we collect

Anonymous play: nothing is stored on our servers. Your roster and settings are encoded directly into the share link's URL, and the match runs entirely in your browser.

On your device: the setup screen remembers the last crew you built — names, characters, colors and any photo you cropped — in your browser's local storage, so a reload does not throw the work away. It never leaves your device unless you start a match or save a crew, it is overwritten by the next crew you build, and clearing your browser's site data removes it.

Analytics: we use privacy-respecting analytics (Google Analytics 4) to count page views and feature usage in aggregate. This uses cookies or similar identifiers. No analytics data is sold.

Accounts: if you create an account — free or paid — we store your email address, your saved crews (names, settings), a record of the matches you run while signed in (competitor names and match settings), your chosen link name, and any matches you publish. Sign-in is passwordless — we email you a one-time code or magic link.

Photos (paid): if you put a photo on a competitor, the cropped face — not the original file — is uploaded to our storage provider and kept under your account. Because a shared match has to be viewable by people who have no account, those cropped faces are stored at unlisted public URLs: anyone holding the link to a match you shared, or to the image itself, can view it. Only you can upload to, list or delete your own folder. Do not upload a photo of someone who would not want it shared, and if you are putting a class or a team in a match, make sure you have permission from them or their guardians first.

How we use data

To run the app, save your crews and your match history, publish the matches you choose to publish, email you sign-in codes and account notices, understand aggregate usage, and prevent abuse. We never sell your personal information.

Third parties

We rely on a small number of processors: a database/auth provider (Supabase) to store accounts and saved data, an email provider (Resend) to deliver sign-in codes, an analytics provider (Google), and a payment processor (Stripe) that handles your card details directly — we never see full card numbers.

Data retention

Saved crews, uploaded photos and your match history persist while your account is active. A match you run while signed in is recorded to your own history and is private to you unless you publish it. You can delete a saved crew or any match in your history at any time, remove a photo from a competitor in the character picker, and request full account deletion — which deletes your stored photos with it — by email.

Your choices

Play anonymously to share nothing. Delete saved data anytime. Use your browser's controls to block analytics cookies. Email us to access or delete your account data.

Children

The service is intended for users 13 and older, and accounts may only be created by someone 13 or older. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. Teachers and parents do use Run or Rumble to pick names in a classroom or at home: if you upload a photo of a child, you are responsible for having the right to do so, and you should know it will be stored at an unlisted public URL as described above. Email us and we will delete any photo or account on request.

We'll update this page and the "last updated" date when this policy changes.
